An unusual lantern clock signed Tho. Wentworth Sarum

Traditional 30-hour movement, original verge escapement, striking the hours on a count wheel and a single bell, (reconstructed) alarm system, signed flower engraved dial plate with a slightly oversized chapter ring and Roman numerals,  single black stained iron hand, well-proportioned brass frame with urn finials, foliate scroll frets, slender corner columns and ball feet, replaced brass doors and iron back plate, hanging loop and wall spikes, height in full only 30 cm, ca. 1685.

Thomas Wentworth Salisbury (Wiltshire) : watch- and clockmaker, working by 1675 until 1692. Work known,  also bracket clocks and long case clocks, signed “Tho. Wintworth Sarum” (Salisbury in Latin). Source :  The Early Clockmakers of Great Britain – Brian Loomes.
